"This is why it matters. Representation. My daughter doesn’t have to have an interest in football. She just has to know that it’s an option. That she can become anything she sets her little heart on. From a princess to a lioness. And everything in between. "

That took me a moment, initially I was taken aback by the idea that Tom had such a young daughter. Then I realized he was sharing something from the internet. I'm an idiot.

Anyone who can speak an indigenous people's original language is no idiot!

Speak is very generous word. Muddle through and barely make myself understood is more accurate.

Thank you though.

The term we prefer is Injun, or if you're British Red Indian or Red Savage works.
I like the Red Savage descriptor! šŸ˜‰

My paternal lineage is murky, dad's dad was adopted into a family in the late 1880's, given a generic sir-name different than the family. My dad always claimed to be a "Heinz 57" human, I never got the whole story but it seems there was some genetic spit-swapping involved. The familial whispering involved native Americans.

I think most of us are "Heinz 57" ...

My dad always just referred to mixed people as mutts, it seems an appropriate appellation.
