Confusing Seat choices for 1969 Mini

I noticed that the manufacturers of seat interiors seem to skip over the 1969 model, must be a change year? My seats have head rests, and they appear to be built into the seat. They also have what appears to be the original Mini track attachment on the bottom of the seat. The VIN lists the car as a Deluxe model, what exactly does that mean? And , any ideas on the seats? With so many years out there maybe they came from a much later car?

Thanks for your help.

Sorry, I don't now the transition years for interior bits.

The "Deluxe" and "Super Deluxe" were trim levels above the basic Mini. The easiest way to think of them is that they were still a small bore Mini but they had the gauge package and some of the trim bits of the Cooper and -S.

I thought I had identified my seats. I exchanged pictures with Newton Commercial and then was told that I would have to send them the seats. Might as well buy new ones for the cost to ship to UK. The seats that look like mine have adjustable back and mine don't. Weird.

I thought someone on MM identified the seats as being from an Austin America?

Before giving up, try contacting Mini City in NY. They are the biggest supplier of Austin America parts and they may be able to both confirm the seat origins and sell you a kit for them.

I think they are right about the austin America seats. A friend came by who owns one and also agrees. Mini City, here i come.

A lot of things were unique to the US market. The Deluxe had the fuel and oil pressure gauges, one each side of the speedometer. My Mk1 had bumper over-riders and corner bars, not certain if the later cars had those.

I see that not very many people post to this MINI forum but if you bought replacement seats for your old mini and like them, let me know what brand and model. I have decided that I want a comfortable seat with headrest, and apparently, the seats that came with the car are a mix of Mini and Austin America. And, Is yours adjustable, as I know my wife will want to drive the car.

I am totally agree with you. You are 100% good here that they are the biggest supplier of Austin America parts and they may be able to both confirm the seat origins and sell you a kit for them.
