Condenser [capacitor] mounted to firewall???

Does anyone know why my BN7 has a condenser (capacitor) mounted to the firewall? The wire is hanging loose, unconnected. The bracket holding the condenser looks factory-like. I never noticed this before. I could take a picture if no one has heard of this. It is mounted about 6 inches below the voltage regulator.

That was my best guess -- of course there is no radio now in my car. I'll remove it. Thanks.

Mine had the same condenser that you discribe. The wire was not attaced nor did I replace it during the restoration. This car had/has no radio but maybe this was fitted for a temp radio at one time.
