Me box has been running slow. I had Regcure and it just expired. Been using Ccleaner too. Cleaned it but still running slow. I don't think I have a firewall either. Something keeps warning me the Msi.Exe.exe keeps trying to run, whatever that is. What's a good free or cheap program to scrub this thing and block stuff from getting on. Thanks, if you don't hear back from me in three weeks, send a coconut cream pie.

Malwarebytes and spybot are two of my favorites (both freeware). The free MS security essentials is pretty good too.

With whip cream?

AVGFree is a good A/V proggy. Ccleaner too. Malwarebytes is good.

Google the msiexe.exe error and you'll get an eye-full. Make certain to ONLY pay attention to Micro$oft recommended cures, a number of the others are trollin' fer your butt.

Without a REAL firewall (appliance) you're cruisin' with yer fly open. Software firewalling is awful (half effective and resource eaters).

Oh... and go clear out your C:/Windows/temp directory if Ccleaner doesn't do it for ya.

+1 Avast I love it. Plus ccleaner + ATF cleaner + Spybot + superantispyware. Thought I rarely if ever get a hit from either of the last two other than maybe a tracking cookie.

bleepingcomputer.com is a REALLY good resource, not just for software links but for advice.
