Computer Hard Drive Question

I have a 120 gig SATA hard drive I use in an external case. I formatted it the other day to clean it out for another back up. When I went to use it, it kicked back that it was now only 7.5 gig. Don't know what happened and I've formatted it again with no improvement. Anyone know how to get this thing back where it belongs? Crazy, because I've formatted it before and all was well, but now it has me baffled. :confusion: PJ

What did you format it as? Some drive formats (Windows FAT32 for instance) can only go so big. Could be that, or an error during the formatting.

First thing is to just try it again. Things do go wrong with computers...

Yes it is Tom and yes I did reformat it in NTFS. Still 7.5!

It's back! Went in Linux on the desk top, plugged the external in, repartitioned and formatted the drive in NTFS and were back to 120 gig! Super! :applause: PJ
