Yes it did!
After a zoom meeting last night I unplugged the power supply from the wall receptacle (left the cord plugged into my laptop), and proceed to leave my dinning room. As I walked by a chair, the cord got snagged and ripped the laptop out of my hands 😭.
My MacBook ended up with a cracked screen. Apple wanted $498 to replace the screen so I took a deep breath and bought a new one. I now have a MacBook with the new M2 chip.... it's very fast.

You got yourself a nice system there! Last year I upgraded to the new 24" iMac M1(had an older 27" iTel mac before). I am still amazed at how fast this thing is, especially when running Apps made for the M1 chip.

Been dabbling more in 4K video lately and may eventually upgrade to the Studio Mac.

Yes, it is nice but a new Mac wasn't on my radar.... the Apple gods had other plans :ROFLMAO:
The one that broke had the intel chip so this new one is like going from a MG to a Triumph (let the stones start flying :p)

Not really. The analogy remains. It outperforms, it’s smarter, and it looks better…. All of the qualities of a Triumph :nana:

and everything costs twice as much is not compatible with anything else and is essentially unrepairable. Dang, you're right, all the qualities of a Triumph. :ROFLMAO:

Just bought my better half a MacBook Pro so I could use the current version of Lightroom Classic. Her previous computer is an 11 year MacBook Pro. Still works, but is much slower. Apparently memory in the new computer is soldered in place, not upgradeable. Will see if repairs are required, and if so, doable.

Speaking of that sort of thing, read an article last week that says Windows 11 may not run on most currently active computers. Seems Microsoft has said it requires more internal bandwidth and a higher capacity graphics chip. True or not, I don't know. But could be hugh sales needed when they push the "required" upgrade.

Nothing at all against LINUX and I would love to take it for a test drive but the Apple os just works and I’ve never had a reason to look at another operating system. Transferring the data from my broken Mac was easy and seamless. Since I am familiar with the Apple system I was back running in no time.
Now, if installing Linux could have repaired my broken screen I’d be all in!
 
I was at an Apple store this weekend and saw someone steal 2 phones and a Mac. The police came and asked me for a statement. I was an i witness.

I was a Windows user for many years. Bought wife an iMac due to seemingly more user friendly interface. I started play with her iMac and found I really liked it. Decided to by myself an iMac (2008) and have been a fan boy ever since.

While I have never used LINUX based machines, going from windows to the apple operating system was a big upgrade for me- It just works.
Since it works for me I've not seen the need or want to make a change.

I worked for a company years ago that had Macs. Previous companies used DOS (Gives you an idea how long ago that was). The Macs crashed just as often at the DOS machines, but they were nicer about it.
