What is acceptable compression on a 1500 engine.
I do not see this in the Haynes manual.

No clue but most engines seem to have between 170 and 190 fresh. Anything below about 130 and you should think about a rebuild.
 
On the 1500, anything above about 100 should be OK. The main thing to pay attention to is the variance between cylinders. Anything over 10~15% is cause for concern. For instance, if you have 115-80-80-115, it could indicate a head gasket problem between #2 & #3. Or,a low reading on only one hole could be a burned valve. These are just random examples.
