I need to replace the cmos battery, in my Compaq CQ60 206US lap top which is no problem, but, there are two batteries listed.

One is listed as-CQ60 CMOS Battery

Second listed as-CQ60 CMOS RTC Battery

What is the difference between the two as they will both physically fit? What does RTC mean?

RTC = Real Time Clock

T.

Edit: Better a quick CMOS battery change, than waiting too long and the laptop forgets it has a hard drive!

What type battery do you use for that CMOS? Mine over the last couple years have all been lithium 3032's.

The battery in the Compaq has a short pigtail that plugs into the PC board under the hard drive. I guess I should get the RTC version.

Looks like this;

Ones on it's way!
