Where can I find a listing (and hopefully pictures) of the colors used during the manufacture of 1975 MGBs?

Also, my car is a '74 1/2. I thought. Was told so, but is titled as a '75. Don't the '74 1/2s have split bumpers and dual carbs?

YIKES! There were about 30-35 colors used from '63-'80. Even eliminating the colors I didn't like, I'm left with waaaaay too many. The flame red on my car now is not the original color. I can tell from spots in the trunk where it's chipped away. Was a more 'true' red. However, after seeing a gazillion rubber bumbers in various shades of red, I'm not sure I want to stay red. Purist that I am! ~grin~ Maybe something obnoxious like citron? Ooh and I liked the pewter metallic. I want to at least use a color that was used on '75 models.

Since I'm saving up for that $3500+ paint job. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

eh... my car was originally citron or is it Limeflower? (that the baby puke yellow/green metallic color?) Pretty nasty color, IMO... one of the POs of my 'B repainted it white... not very attractive either... black tulip, the greys, and the blues all look attractive to me

Nasty yes, but it definitely stands out in a crowd. I love the metallic pewter and the black tulip, would love to see them in person.

One of my partners has a "Harvest Gold" '75 B. At first, it didn't appeal to me, but over time, I've grown to like it. It is so mid-seventies. We had kitchen appliances...and a couch about the same color, and you won't see many that color these days.

Black tulip is a great color, especially with the biscuit interior and top.

Here's mine:

The picture is actually pretty close to what it looks like "in person."

There's also a picture of one in the current Classic Motorsports magazine.

jaybird, are you a purist? I'm am when it comes to healeys, but not with my 76 B. the reason is that my B is my driver and i'm not afraid to get on the road with it and enjoy it. i want people to stop and ask about it. So I converted mine to chrome bumpers, which really wasn't that difficult nor expensive, and what a difference. For 2 years my car was harvest gold (ugliest yellow on earth)and rubber bumpered. People would ask "What kind of car is it?", but, never did i recieve a compliment for it til now. I've had my car back for just two weeks, chrome and brg green, and am constantly getting "Great car" "cool" etc... I'll try to send you a pic of before and after. But whatever you decide, have fun. It's never really never quite finished, there's always something on the market that looks even better, cooler and...well, gotta go now, just found a cool site with some chrome wire wheels and, oh. well, you get the picture.

I'm not a purist to the point that I only drive the B to mass on Sundays. It's a car. I bought it to drive it and I've put nearly 7000 miles on her in less than a year. It's not art. If I want art, I'll hang it in the living room.

I'm a purist to the point that I want my car as original, as stock as I can keep her. Things like 2-eared knockoffs that I think look really cool, weren't standard on '75's, things like no dual exhaust as much as I love it, and rubber bumpers because she was built that way. I absolutely love the look of a chrome-bumpered B. But I'll have one of those when I get my '71. A guy in our club has a '77 that he converted. Looks great. Actually won an award this past weekend. Poor guy was lumped in a catagory with all the modifieds though!

I get looks and comments, but at the show this past weekend, I was just a speck in a sea of amazing MGs. Red rubber bumper. ~grin~ Nothing spectacular or noteworthy. But when the 6 of us were caravaning home, I could see the people that we passed (or passed us) When they got to John's '59 MGA, they nearly drove off the road!!!

I'm babbling, aren't I?
