I read about the one between Broomfield
& Boulder.105 mph winds.
I spent some time in that area.Lots of dry-
grass,& nothing to stop the fires.Sad.
I hope that if there are any members there,
that they're safe.
High winds are common there. I worked in that area years ago and noticed many houses had slate roofs. I asked why and was told that they had high winds at times. I recall they were called Chinook Winds, but that may have been elsewhere. Here they are called Santa Ana winds.
What is strange is how dry the area was. Normally, there would have been snow.
The highest here I can remember was 90+ mph, but it was raining to boot so no fire threats! The rain hitting the side of the house sounded like pebbles, not rain drops. I feel so sorry for those folks who lost everything. Devastating!
