Is anyone familiar with the color that the body of a tr3 D2wiper motor is painted? Is it wrinkle black or smooth black?

I painted mine hammertone silver and never had a judge at TRA or VTR tell me it was wrong, I think that TRA will also accept a black crinkle finish. But the silver hammertone is nice.

John Warfield and I were discussing this and other minutia last Sunday at the OBCD in Adamstown, MD. Apparently there were black wrinkle, grey hammered and blue. I am familiar with the black and grey but not blue. John is seldom wrong about these issues.

I was not aware of the blue, but was of the black wrinkle and grey hammertone. I opted for the black wrinkle as I like the look better then the grey hammertone.

BTW, both finishes are available from Rust-O-Leum that was at my local Home Depot. That said, their Hammered finish is good, but the black wrinkle will most likely require some heat to get it to wrinkle good. I've had one that I bought at a local parts store called VHT Wrinkle Plus that worked very good without any additional heat.
