Color of reservoir bracket to pillar

Time to paint my brake reservoir and the surrounding bracket due to the cummulative effects of brake fluid. Is the bracket that attaches the tank and surrounding reservoir bracket to the shroud pillar painted gloss black or body color? The bracket in question is attached to the shroud pillar by two screws.

Hi Rob,

This bracket and the two screws/washers are painted body color.

BTW, I left Castrol LMA fluid on well cured PPG Acrylic Urethane (Concept DCC) and found no damage after 5 days (note this was on a test piece and not to be taken as fool-proof). I only mention this since it "should" be good paint to use around the brake reservoir.

Cheers,
John

John,

Thanks for the response. I found the answer & you confirmed it. In the Jan. 1994 Restoration Guide and Inspection Standards, p. 21 states: "The black band in turn is fastened to a body-colored bracket with two body-colored phillips-head screws". Doesen't say anything about two washers, but I have them under the phillips-head screws, painted body color along with the bracket. Amazing that I got it right 15 years ago! I just duplicated what was already there. Thank goodness the PO was into orginality.

Rob,

Think of it this way. There were certain brackets/parts installed on the vehicle before painting. So in this case the bracket/ screws/washers were installed pre-paint and then the black clamp and reservoir were installed post paint.

Cheers,
John
