After noticing a power drop-off after the car had been running awhile & watching the temp. gauge gradually creep up. I looked into a cold air intake system for my TR3A. But could find nothing that was customized & had an enclosed duel carb. airbox.
So I did the next best thing:
I made a simple & inexpensive air intake modification.
Bought a generic brake line cooling scoop (6"x 3.5") with a centered 3" port , a Spectre 3" x 28" flexible air intake hose & a couple of hose clamps for about $30.00 total.





Removed the bumper & grill.
Cut a 3" hole in the right side radiator shield and ran the 3" tube over the horn & strip tied it to the rad. brace to work as a simple cool air duct feeding the SU H6's and the right side of the engine compartment.
Strip tied the scoop to the front grille & reassembled.
The only permanent modification was the three inch hole in the shield.
Performance wise: I was rather surprised at the increase in 2-3 gear pick up & top end power.
And an added benefit is my car ran about 3 to 5 degree's cooler overall, though this could have been the effect of test driving on such a mild, nice day.
