Coil suppressor [?] question

I installed my newly rebuilt distributor and Flame Thrower coil today. I don't know what the little blue item was bolted to the original coil, with a lead to the (+) side of the distributor. I know that the ballast is in the wiring, so could this be an optional radio suppressor?

Blue in color, looks like an ignition condenser and one wire out.

BTW, the car runs great with the new Pertronix electronic ignition and coil. I have it at 12 degrees BTDC at 900 rpm and a total advance of about 36 degrees. I think that I can bump it ahead a bit further, but I want to install some new NGK plugs with a .030" gap first.

So you don't need that suppressor? I had the same on my original Lucas coil, put in new coil and don't know if I should hook up suppressor.
