Cobweb: austinhealey.com

Anyone remember my old site? It's been a "cobweb" for a number of years now as I have been very busy with work (I blame my parents for not enabling my true destiny, which was to be a "trustafarian"; now in their late 70's they don't seem very sorry about it, either, which I feel is very unbecoming) and other projects.

One of those other projects was setting up a site to record Jaguar E-Types, out of curiosity as to how many might be left. I have since adapted that software to record a few other models of Jaguar, and of course the thought was in the back of my mind to eventually port the old Healey site over to the new format...which is what I've finally done. Only took five years, about right for me.

First, a disclaimer: I'm not trying to usurp any good work done by "professional" registrars (who, in my Jaguar site experience, really dislike these sites). It takes a lot of work to keep a carefully vetted list of cars, and that's not what these sites do. They're more like "wikipedia", where entries are made on the fly and can be added to over time, or corrected, or what have you, by site visitors.

The old site will probably be kept around as a relic, just because it really was "cutting edge" in 1995 and is such an anachronism to me now. The old domain will eventually point to the new site, though.

There's very little on the new site just yet, as I'm still trickling in data as I can find the time.

The site is: https://www.healeydata.com . (If you're of a mind, please feel free to add your car.) To get an idea of what the site might be like after a few years, visit https://www.xkedata.com , which now has nearly 9,000 cars and 44,000+ photos in its fifth year.

I'd love to hear what y'all think. I've had a ton of great support for the Jaguar sites but also a few grumbles which have made up in vitriol (threatened lawsuits, anyone?) what they lack in quantity--nothing said here will faze me. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
