TR6 Clutch trouble

Lost all clutch pressure two weeks ago due to a leaky SC. I it shortly after, clutch worked fine, shifted, wheels spun etc. I left the car up on stands to address some brake issues, and as I was getting ready to start this weekend, check the clutch last night to sure all is well. NOPE. SC pressure, but now it’s as if there’s no pressure plate. Clutch armature moves back and forth with no resistance and I can hear the clink of the throw out bearing as it slides side to side. Car shifts through the gear whether running or not, but no power to the wheels so I don’t believe it’s a stuck clutch. Hoping someone has a few ideas before go through the rigor or removing the transmission to inspetc the clutch. Please help.

Try opening the bleeder screw on the slave. If you get a squirt and the release lever on the shaft moves, then it's a hydraulic problem, most likely a plugged flex hose. Make sure the arm and lever are free also.

Tom,

There is pressure to the SC. I have zero resistance coming from the clutch arm, so the slave pushrod remains fully extended. If the pin is removed, the clutch arm swings back and forth freely about and inch or so.

Sounds like the release bearing carrier is hung up on the cover sleeve.
This problem has been documented https://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/technical/clutch/StickyClutch/StickyClutch.htm but the fix requires gearbox removal so I'd be pretty certain that it's not a hydraulic issue before I did that. If you have pressure to the slave cylinder with the pedal released, that is not normal. Either the master is not returning or there is a line restriction. If not, I think you are in for it.
