General Tech Clutch Throw -Out Release Bearing

My clutch (standard trans with OD) works great, but I’m hearing a whirring sound when I depress the clutch pedal.

After releasing it, and while driving, it’s all fine. But while idling and first depressing the clutch, I can hear it is noisy.

My guess is that my throw out bearing is going bad. It is fairly new, probably four years old.

The obvious question: Is this something I need to replace right away, or only if it becomes a problem?

The noise doesn’t bother me, or seem to affect the operation of the clutch, but it’s there.

Any chance my clutch slave adjustment is causing this? Any other advice?

Thx

Is there an 'anti rotation' pin on the bearing ?
If not the bearing might be good, it's just spinning on the fork, which the pin would prevent.

In my experience, at least, some clutches just do that. Unless the noise is accompanied by something more troubling, like a grinding noise or feeling, I don't think it is anything to worry about.

That's odd.....I've never seen that pin on any of the throw out bearings I have bought from the usual suppliers Is this something new. or just for TR4's? Who sells it.

It's pretty common on the steel version of the bearing carrier for the 4A and TR6's...I'm not sure about the 4 if it's different or not though.

I think the TR4 used the same Sleeve as the TR3A/B so no pin would be present. If I remember correctly the OEM TR4A sleeves were brass/bronze and steel OEM came out with the TR250/TR5.
