1971 MGB slave cylinder leaking pretty good.
Looking at most rebuild kits you don't get but about two seals in them,Is that usually enough to fix it,or should I just buy the whole cylinder.
I hear bleeding the thing can be a real bugger too, I hope not the brakes were bad enough. Any info on this much appreciated.

You're better off just buying a good aftermarket replacement....IMO

Just be aware the bleed screw on some of the replacements is in the wrong port: the bleed screw should be at the topmost hole when the cylinder is in position. Then bleeding that system is NO problem.

I wouldn't say "NO problem". I've still had problems at times (or was that with my Sprite?), but nothing a power bleeder (i.e. Eezibleed) couldn't fix.

Had to be th' Sprite, Dave. The B slave cylinder is stuck out there fer The Deities an' everyone to see. An EZ-Bleed makes it even less a problem. Twenty minutes, tops!

Look at the bore. If it's smooth and clean then a rebuild is as good, if not better than as a new one. If it's a car that is maintained properly then chances are the rubber is simply worn out. A new kit is only a few dollars.

If the bore is lightly damaged then you can hone it smooth again. If heavily damaged then replace, as it would cost less to buy a new one than to repair the damage.

Or contact another Great Pumpkin (Tony) for one. He's a Moss distributor.

Thanks, Doc.

Well, YOU didn't say anythin'!!

Trying not to be self-serving in my old age.

Goin' all conservative?!?

Don't DO that. I'll be forced to come up there an' FIX somethin'!

Not conservative....just figure everybody knows or can read the banners.
