Spitfire Clutch Slave Access on Late Spit

Anyone ever cut an access panel in the tunnel to service the clutch slave cylinder without removing half the interior (late Spit)? Was it worth the trouble? I know about Ted's bleeding hose, but didn't want to go that route.
