Clutch Puzzle

Hi all. I always seem to jinks myself with my midget by making the comment that she is running good. Usually not long after the comment something goes wrong. This one has me puzzled. I did some heavy driving yesterday (about 100 miles on a long road trip) and on the way back I was in a real busy area with a lot of stop and go. At one point the clutch pedal felt limp and I couldnt shift in or out of second. I pulled the car over to the nearest spot and checked the fluid reservoir and the fluid was full. Looked for leaks and couldnt find anything. Then after the car cooled off from looking it over (about 30 minutes) I got back in and it went into gear with no trouble and the whole way home. This morning I checked everything again and I cant see any issues and she drove fine up to this point. Im just puzzled as to what may have happened. Its like the clutch release bearing or something got stuck? Im just wondering if that was my warning sign for a future replacement. Any thoughts?

My '79 does this too, but generally not while driving. It happens more when I have just parked the car and turned it off.

If I push the car a foot or two forward or back, the clutch pops. It also releases when I try to turn the car over, it pops right back into place.

I know that I have issues with the clutch and likely the tranny. I'm just going as long as I can before pulling the engine and tranny for an overhaul. I keep saying to myself that I need to make it through summer, I;ll have it all done during the winter.

It's been 2.5 years now and she just keeps going

Boiling brake fluid?

How close to any exhaust are the components, and/or how hot was the day?

I know high is supposed to be 79 today.

I've had that exact soft-pedal (limp), and unable to shift in a non-LBC.

Try flushing the system with all new fluid.

Larry -

Good to see your still around. FYI - Brit Car Day at Ursline college (near Cedar & I-271) tomorrow (Sat; 8/1). 200+ Cars. Hope to see you there.

Sorry - no good ideas on the clutch.
