Clutch: Good News, for a change.

When I brought my Midget home three months ago, the clutch was completely inoperable. I wanted to tidy up the engine compartment before I attempted the clutch maintenance, but I bought a new clutch master cylinder from British Victoria. (I received one of those new see-through plastic master cylinders) I've been stripping, cleaning, painting, etc. Today I finally installed my rebuilt, stripped, painted pedal assembly with the new master cylinders. It really looks nice. My midget already had a new clutch slave cylinder and hose, so I replaced the pipe and master cylinder only. I filled the new master cylinder with fresh fluid, opened the bleed valve and pumped the pedal up a few times, and viola'.. instant clutch the first time. NO leaks, no runs, no errors. In my case, I think the old Lockheed master cylinder was indeed bad, but also my pedals were rusted and binding. When I cleaned up my pedal box, I cleaned and olied the padal shaft and that seemed to make a big difference. These new master cylinders don't look stock, but they do look fresh and they sure work. Congratulations, Sid! Glad to hear the clutch is working. Hopefully the rest of the car goes well for you too.
 
Thanks Sparky... Hopefully I can have the old lady driving in time for the British car meet at Road Atlanta in a few weeks.
