it has been brought to my attention
that the DOT 5 fluid could be causing
problems and that DOT 3/4 is a better
fluid for the cylinder seals etc...

any comments? ....ziimmmy
 
As long as you dont mix the different types and For me stick with the type that hit the seals when installed. I dont see and have never experenced any problems related to fulid causing cylinder seal failure.

What is the problem that DOT 5 is possibly causing?

Heres a tip I got from my father inlaw many years ago.
we was a A-P master Mech for Eastern airlines. They would soak the cylinder seals in a warm bath of fluid prior to installation and install them wettted. Apperently it allowed air to not "Stick" to surfaces and help in bleeding systems. I Have used this method many times and It must work or Im and expert at bleeding. I will claim the former.Think about it and that little cylinder has a ton of surface area. Moving a really small amout of fluid.

Yep, sure can. Sell more parts that way even AFTER I tell customer NOT to use 5!! :nonono:

Castrol GT/LMA is the ONLY thing I have used in decades!! And I will NOT do (my cars either) a job where cust. wants/demands the stuff!! Don't want to re-do the job for free (for some reason :lol: !!

Dont fix what anit broke fill everything with Castrol.
If need Dot 5 Your not driving her enough!!
