TR2/3/3A Clunk when engaging clutch

Took a long, and brisk (39*), drive this morning and noticed a slight clunk when engaging the clutch. It sounds like a TR6 with a broken diff pin, maybe not that bad. I am about to take off the transmission tunnel and troubleshoot the OD, so I'll be able to look at the drive shaft universals. Any other ideas on logical places to look?
Thanks,

I assume you are talking about the TR3--U-joints is good idea, check for fore aft play on the drive flange that goes into the diff, leaf springs and mounts, shocks and shock links all tight? wire wheel hubs on tight? knock offs snugged down? or if steel or alloys check lug nuts (doesn't sound like a loose wheel, but easy enough to check and rule out), just some possibilities. My guess is a u-joint, but my confidence in the guess is not overly high, could be a number of things.
