Clovis Music Festival/Car Show

Every year the locals here put on a music festival and with it have a car show. Buddy Holly did alot of his recording here at the Norm Petty Studio and put on quite a show. The car show has grown over the years,,,and I usually put in an old Bug or whatever VW i have around. One year won Peoples Choice with a 59 sliding rag-top bug, two tone, 6 volt with semaphores. Some of the guys with LOTS of money in street rods were very upset. Most of the owners had clean hands and couldn't change a tire..let alone build a car. Anyhow..this year my 69 CGT is entered. One year I took it but didn't show it. A few people walked up and said how badly I had messed up a nice car by putting a 6 cyl. engine in it?? Last year I took my 75S model 911s. Got swamped with lookers and some of the other entrants said foreign cars should be banned...sore losers. Lots of good old music, food and tons of give-aways.

Sounds fun. When is it? Just curious, do you do any work with 914s? Good Luck with the C.

Week-end after Labor Day. It is fun, just have to deal with lots of swollen egos. I respect the ones who do at least part of the work on their cars..the check writers I blow off. I do work on 914s...944s etc. I'm tapering off on VW work, and on customer service work in general. as gas drops...my motorhome looks more and more inviting. We usually strap a B or a bug behind it and disappear for a while.
