Cleveland Help

I purchased a 1980 TR7 in Euclid, and need to find a good Brit mechanic to tow the car from its warehouse location and go over it. Can anybody give me a recommendation? Phone number?

Actually, the car is running but it sounds like the alternator is going, and probably needs a tune-up at the least.

I live in Seoul, Korea, and hope to fly in to Cleveland and drive the car back to PA at the end of October. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Dan,

This may help you. Open the pdf and go down to Ohio. Contact the nearest guy to your car and ask them for help in what you are trying to do. These guys are great in helping a fellow owner.

Then you have one of the biggest Triumph groups in the country here and they will help too:

Good luck....

No, TR6 Bill is really the greatest. I'm just his fill in replacement when he's not online.

Well, I didn't find what I was looking for under these sites. I did download the VTR assist booklet, which makes me think I might try to get it back to PA. If I wasn't coming in from Korea, I could have a break-down kit with me. The thing is, I only paid a thousand bucks for the car, and I hate to pay another 700 to trailer it. Even if I only get it halfway home, a tow truck would cost less than that with my AAA.

Did you contact the president of Buckeye or one of the coordinators for VTR to ask who they recommend in that area already? That was quick.

Let the locals give you help. You have to call or send an email to explain your needs, but I'm sure that they will help you when you explain what you need.

It's a lot better option than the phone book.

Remember AAA+ is good for 80 miles. Where in PA are you taking it too? I have a friend who used to have a older (translation heavy) car trailer I can check in to for you/ My Dodge Ram hauled it OK, not sure my Hummer has the guts to tow it

Thanks Paul, no, I didn't call anyone. I was just looking for some kind of posting. I really hate imposing on people by calling them on the phone but I'll try writing.

And PATR8, I also thank you for your offer but I am going halfway across the state to Bloomsburg. Yeah, AAA is 80 miles, but you can always find somebody to take you further for extra cash. When I was trying to get the TR6 from KC to PA it broke down, and a tow truck hauled me 400 miles back to KC for $500.

Now that I think about it, there never is any guarantee on these cars whether you will ever make your destination. So, maybe I'll just check the fluids, crank it up, and go... livin la vita loca.

Dan, I live in Akron, and have used Medina Motorsports, with good results. The owner's name is John, and he is located at 942 West Liberty St., Medina, Ohio 44256. Tel: 330- 725-2725. They are expensive (who isn't?), but he knows Triumphs. He can line you up with a tow truck, or else I can help find one for you. I have no financial interest. Good luck,

Bob

Dan,

Remember, these guys are there to help. A lot of them are retired and love helping fellow owners. I think that you are missing the boat by not even emailing or calling them for advice. JMHO, your choice.

Yeah, I think my hesitancy comes from my days as a salesman... I now hate calling people on the phone unless I know them. I'll get over the hump and call.

Thanks also, Bob. I'll give a call tonight (well, my night, your day).
