Cleaning underside of British Car

Everytime I work under my Healey I try and clean everything around the part or area I am working on. The car has years and 60k milea of road grime, leaking oil (surprise) and general crud. What is the best way to clean under the car? And, since the frame is body color, how can I paint the area other than with black spray paint? The car is currently Viper red I am told?? Someone else painted it. I am trying to do this on my own and a rolling resto if possible.

Thanks Scott

goggles and gloves.

you should be able to scrape most - I used a heat gun for the undercoat - mind you I also had it upside down. when it is clean, many use truk bed liner which you can get tinted to match
