T-Series Clatter in second gear only?

I have developed a clatter while in second gear only on my 54 TF. The tranny seems to work well in all gears its just this clatter while in second. Has anyone experienced such a noise and what do you think it could be. I would like to have an idea before I go into the tranny. It was rebuilt about 8000 miles ago during the complete restoration. Thanks for your help and have a good day!

I'm having a hard time imagining anything outside the transmission that could do this. Maybe the shifter, and you can remove it and check it without pulling the transmission. If it's not that, I suspect you are looking at a transmission rebuild. Any wear in a bearing or shaft can cause noise in one particular gear. The layshaft is notorious for that kind of thing, but I'd expect it usually to cause noise in more than one gear.
