I would like to buy a functional original-type cigar lighter for a '73 MG Midget. Just accidentally broke my original lighter while reinstalling the console yesterday and neglecting to remove the lighter knob.

Anything special about it?
Do you need just the element, knob or the receptical?
I have several left over from my Jaguar XJS project.
Diameters of barrels can vary.
Best way to contact me is text to 650-455-1110.

Nothing special that I know of. The part that broke is the plastic inside and the yellow ring around the knob. The knob and barrel look O.K. It was fully functional before I broke it. I don't smoke, but I used it to power a GPS on occasion.
I found one on eBay that looks just like it, although it says it is for an MGB. I bought it, but it hasn't arrived yet.
Sorry, but texting is my worst way of contacting you, since I don't text. If the one from eBay doesn't work, I'll give you a call.

Thanks for your response!

OK let me know.
I'm still not clear about hat's broke.
When you need to try to describe what you have.

The lighter appears to be all metal, except for the center part that the knob screws into. That is plastic, and it broke into several small pieces. I think the outer metal part that screws onto the inner metal part behind the console to lock the lighter into place is still back there. There is minimal clearance (almost negative clearance) to shove the console sideways to get it in and out between the tunnel and the dash. I broke the lighter just as the console was moving into place so I haven't tried to remove the console again, which is a real pain.
The new lighter from eBay is due to arrive tomorrow, and I'll have to remove the console to put it in. When I get all the parts together, I'll take a photo for you.
