According to the BBC, it's a done deal. Fiat gets a 35% equity stake in Chrysler, access to its distributors and dealer network, while Chrysler gets acxcess to Fiat's technology. Win-win in my opinion.

Renault/Nissan had been talking to GM a while ago, before this mess kicked off, but talks petered out. So what are the odds that this gets resurrected now, in the face of Fiat/Chrysler?

Ok someone as to say it. Since Chrysler leads the list of the country's worst performing cars, https://www.cbc.ca/consumer/story/2008/11/18/f-forbes-cartests.html I guess they are looking to Fiat for the additional value Fiat can provide - rust
