Chopped Windscreen?

Just fooling around with photoshop, but I sort of like the chopped windscreen. Of course the wipers would have to go.

Nice look -- but I wonder where eye-level would be with stock seats. More than a few Bugeye drivers look over the top of the windscreen to see where they're going so maybe that's the answer.

Here's a chopped TR3 (real not photoshop):

Hey Tab, glad to see you posting.
I'm doing a windshield like that for my 4, except w/o the frame across the top. I have an extra frame so I can do it both ways.

Hi Tab,

I would be concerned that the chop would be right at your eye level. Second, I would assume that there would be modifications made to the side windows/soft top as well?

Cheers,
M. Pied Lourd

Looks pretty sharp but, This might be a problem!

You guys may be right about eye level. It's been so long since I have actually sat in the car.

I would really much prefer a version like Jim is talking about, that is without the frame running across the top. I suppose if you have the windsheild polished on the top it may look pretty nice.

I really like the windshield on the old Healy 100-4's that you could remove or rake it back.

It was just a thought, I couldn't do it anyway since I plan on intalling the rear hardtop portion with a rollover bar tucked just beneath it and the aluminum surrey. The picture below is from Racestorations and it shows a rear hardtop with Perspex/Plexi with vent holes cut into it. It looks like it also has Perspex door windows with holes as well. The '73 911-RS lightweight had plexiglass instead of glass as I remember.

Had to chime in on this as I am in the glass biz. You should have some type of protection at top of glass. Laminated glass is weak on its edge.

Tab, cut 3 or 4 more inches off the top of the W/S and you'll be closer to what I have in mind.
And don't use glass, replace it with Lexan. Will prolly require a small support in the center, something similar to an MGB mirror support rod or some such.

The Ferrari shown below is the color scheme I want to use. I love the seat bolsters as well, but I'm not going quite that far. The windscreen is also great, but one of those is most likely worth more than my car.
