Thank you for the photos and explanation. Actually I thought that I had thanked you right after you posted your reply but when I was reviewing the photos on the Forum this morning I did not see my thank you reply to your post. The explanation and photos solved the problem. I just have one further question to be sure I have correctly installed the cable bracket. The way it looks in your photos and in my installation of the bracket, the outer choke cable casing can move up and down in the trunnion. In other words the outer cable casing is not cinched down in the trunnion and free to pivot back and forth and can slide up and down.

Hi sal,

The outer cable is clamped by the trunnion so it cannot move up & down as Steve showed the drill bit clamped. The trunion with cable clamped to it is free to rotate and self-align in the bracket.

Further...the 2nd picture above shows how when you tighten the nut, the two holes become offset, thus clamping the cable housing between the outer trunnion tube and the inner solid barrel. This is enough to grip the housing but not enough to collapse it and prevent the inner wire from sliding.

Where does the information for a red heat shield come from? I have never seen one or heard of it. The radiator shield is hand painted red, but I’d be very surprised if the heat shields were ever red.
