Choke & Heater Control Knobs

I would like to replace the choke and heater control knobs on my TR-6. Is there any easy way to remove the old knobs?

Pull them out so you can excess them a little easier. Use a nail or drill bit about 1/8" dia and push the pin up thats located underneath on each knob. You will have to hold the pin up with the nail( or drill bit) and pull on the knob.

:iagree: in theory.

But sometimes the plastic can shrink over time, until the knobs are very tight even with the pin depressed. On a buddy's TR6, I finally resorted to using two small pry bars, one on either side of the knob, with some small wooden shims to protect the dash finish. I thought sure it would damage the switch, but all of them survived the treatment. We used an X-acto knife to scrape the inside of the knob a bit bigger before reinstalling them.

The knobs on both Stags were also pretty tight, although not as bad.
