Choke cable connection?

Okay, I need to connect my Bugeye choke cable to the choke linkage of my new 1275. I'm assuming the cable would go roughly where it is in the attached picture. I did try this once, connecting the cable so I could try and pull it fro the dash. It was extremely hard to pull out -- didn't seem like there was the proper leverage.

I had attached the cable to the eyelet where the spring is connected in the picture.

Help?

See attached picture, seat the sheeting into the collar (pull cable end further through bottom attachment, cable should be clipped the side of the heater box. It's late I'm tired, might be wrong on any or all points.

Drew - pretty sure that cable clamp goes in the hole of the linkage where you have the return spring now.
I can't tell where you have the cable connected in that pic.
jvandyke is right about the end of the cable seated in the 'brass-looking' pocket.

The little clip/stop thingy does go below where it is now -- I just popped the cable in for the photo.

I'll fiddle a bit more tonight and take a better picture.

Try a ziptie to hold the cable along side the heater box to take out some flexing. I think there is supposed to be a clip of some sort there (I don't have one either). My choke is also too stiff but that's mostly because it's too short (left over from the Weber). I need to get another, it is quite stiff to operate too, works alright but stiff. Needs enough length to bend from horizontal to vertical axis without binding, mine binds.

Drew,
The choke cable assembly goes into the brass fitting on the carb body. That holds the outer cable in place. The inner "stranded" cable routes through the carb body and attaches to the choke assembly with the "cable stop". The return spring is in the bottom hole & the cable stop in the upper hole. Make sure the spring is inplace so the choke assembly returns to its open position. You can then pull the stranded cable tight in the cable stop and tighten the pinch bold to secure the cable. That should take all the play out of the cable.
Hopefully you've had your 3rd arm grafted on this summer so it shouldn't be a problem!!!!!! Actually not very difficult.

BE choke cables inners are solid I believe. At least on this one it is.

That cable end collar has to come off, just the outer sheath of the cable fits in the brass tube. Pull the choke inner cable out about a foot, dyke off that cable end and feed the inner cable back out.

Thanks again for all the tips. I went out tonight and snipped off that collar and reconnected everything. Choke is a bit stiff, but does seem to be working properly.

For now, it just has the one spring to the other carb for the choke. Should that be enough? Do I need to find a place to attach the spring I removed to fit the cable lock?
