Anybody have any experience with upgrading from stock
TR6 shocks/suspension?

In about 1976 I bought new a Toyota Celica a guy special
ordered from the dealer with an upgraded suspension --
principally shocks. I don't know what they were except
to say fantastic. Wrecked that car, though.

Hang in there, the plot thickens...

Sooo, bought another '76 Celica later and put on Koni
shocks because car buffs were guessing that is what may have
been on my first Celica. Welllll, you might guess it, the
Koni shocks did not perform anywhere near as well as what
was on the first car.

So, I see Koni (fully adjustable) as an upgrade available
from Moss and elsewhere. I have to wonder if these babies
will satisfy me and/or if there is a better choice?

I'm all ears.

I have Koni shocks front and rear.
To use tube shocks on the rear you have to remove the lever shocks and install a kit.

I think that a good set of rear lever shocks should be fine.

I did install the Blind Moose rear tube shock kit, and then I tried KYB shocks, which were way too stiff.
Then I tried some Monroe's, which were too soft.
Now I have Koni shocks, which are adjustable off the car.
I have the fronts set 1/2 turn up from full soft, and the rears set at 1.5 full turns up from soft.

There are lots of other suspension things that will change the ride and handling. Bushings, tire size and pressure, sway bars, type of springs ( I have Good Parts springs).

All depends on what you are looking for and the current condition of all your suspension bits.

Thanks for the response. This is the type of feedback
I was looking for. Sounds like you fiddled a bit to get
what you like.

Probably will go with the Konis.

Dennis.
