General TR Chirping front wheel bearing

Hi all
Ever since I brought the Herald in for its pre-test inspection, the left front wheel has developed a "chirping" sound. It sort of is rhythmic and seems to vary frequency with speed.
At the inspection, they tightened up the bearing to try to eliminate a bit of free -play.
I loosened the bearing up a bit, but it still chirps.
Any thoughts????

Sounds like it could also be a brake chirp. I had a similar problem (sound) in the right front wheel of my TR3.

Does the sound disappear when you lightly apply the brake?

It may be brake related but I was not aware of the chirping before the mechanic tightened up the bearing. I took a look at the outer bearing / race ... and it looks fine.
I guess I will have to pull off the brake and the inner bearing to take a look also.

Does the sound stop when you lightly apply the brakes?

If it is a bearing making that chirping sound it probably is an outer race spinning in the hub. If it is not too badly worn you can stipple the surface that holds the bearing. I once had a special tool I made to do that.

OK just parked in my driveway and noticed that it was making the squeaky sound when I moved it slightly so I took my big long craftsman screwdriver and pushed the brake pads back slightly - and no more squeak. So I guess I am going to get my disks turned. Simpler than bearings. I wonder what they did that caused it to start exactly when they tightened the wheel bearing.
