Checking out lever arm shocks

Can lever arm shocks on the front and rear of an AH 3000 be tested to see if they work properly while still mounted on the car?

You can push down vigorously on the fenders a few times. Then make sure it stops bouncing immediately when you stop exerting force. If it keeps oscillating (bouncing), the shock is worn.

I don't know about the fronts, but I don't trust the bounce test for the rears, between the limited travel and friction from the leaves--I had two rear shocks totall gone on my hundred, did not "bounce" when pushed down on rear fender, but did handle horribly on bumpy roads, one rear shock had frozen and the are has stripped from the shock, the other just had no resistance.

best to take them off--it is not too hard, you can check to see if the bolts are tightened down good then too, they tend to loosen up over time.

If their the original shocks and have never been off the car it's safe to say they all should be rebuilt anyway. Good winter project, just take them off and send them off to Worlwide or etc.
