Checking/Changing Limited Slip Diff. Oil on XJS

On the 1990 XJS, the speed sensor is located on the back cover of the differential where I think the plug used to be.

So how do you check the oil level? The owners manual mentions changing the oil every 12,000 miles. I know that you have to add limited slip addative to 80-90 wt to top up the Diff, but I haven't been able to figure out how to get access.

Anyone dealt with this before? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

There should be a fill plug on the finned aluminum cover on the side opposite the speed sensor. It can be very awkward to get to. Some plugs are male, and some are female.I usually find the appropriate socket, and use a flexible ratchet from the passenger side, in the space below the edge of the rotor. It sounds harder than it really is, unless some gorilla has overtightened it the last time.
