Well...not "dump"...it just is purposefully NOT written for IE at all, full stop.
I have IE8 (with IE6...last good IE saved on desktop .exe) and FireFox both running when I need them. Not a dump, just written for Safari, Chrome, FireFox and a couple of others.
You have all sorts of stuff you can change...kill the right side ticker if you want (I did, because I got FBP when that happened), kill chat, kill one hundred percent of the ads....look at add-ons, you can select "BA" to "block application" so when folks send you Casino, Poker, all that poop, you block it, it never comes back.
 
I've love to kill that crap on the right side (and maybe the reading cookies to see what I've been shopping for - stuff like that). Killing chat would generally be good, too (though I've hardly been asked).
 
OK - I'll bite. Why use Facebook?

Every "social media" sharing site is getting info from you, so why not just use something like Photobucket, Flickr, or even something like WordPress, etc. You post what you want, share with everyone ("public") or just those you want ("private").

And you're not inundated with friend requests, friends' update notices, ads, security changes, etc.

Sure seems easier to control than FB.
 
Well, as far as a browser is concerned, I installed the latest version of firefox and it was constantly dumping unwanted junk in my machine. Takes over the whole screen with junk ads! I'm using Sea Monkey now as I turned around and dumped Firefox for that reason. I do not need this. I don't care about new apps or anything else FF has to dump on my machine. IE-11 is just as bad, but even more screwed up. So, I'll use a browser that doesn't dump all this junk (to me), unwanted and unasked for. Possibly an older version not designed for I Phones won't have this feature. FF actually bypassed my security software with ads. One of the best browsers ever made was Flock! It's still available, but with no support. Has a unique pull down media bar with drag and drop photos in BB code that I've used for years.

Very strange. FF has no need to load junk on the computer. My versions do not, other than alerts from Adobe for updates (one computer).
And I think that's Adobe.
Not FF.
I think you had something else in there.
 
I have never had FF dump anything on my puter. You might have virus of some sort.
 
I use Facebook mostly to keep up with friends and family that are too distant to stay in easy contact with another way.

Not really Walter, I downloaded the latest version of FF for Windows 8-64 from Mozilla, no offbeat site. Later, not right now, I'm going to install an older version and see how that works. I think you can go back a couple versions and still get support. There is one thing for sure, there are no viruses in my computer. PJ

Well, I've decided on keeping "Sea Monkey", it's a real nice browser with everything I would want in a browser. Looks nice, very user friendly and easy to customize for your likes and needs. I shut IE off in my machine and took FF out. Now I'm not hounded with junk ads, pop ups and whatever else is on their agenda. Give it a look, you might be surprised. :encouragement: PJ

Hi Paul,
You may be surprised to known that Seamonkey is made by Mozilla, the same group that makes Firefox.
 
Paul - I'm just now trying SeaMonkey. What do you use to cut down on all the ads?

I have never seen ads in FireFox from FireFox of Mozilla. Read that article.
All the issues you have been having....for how long now?....no matter computer, OS or browser, it all comes down to:
You have something else in there.
It may not know of SeaMonkey to open those windows...but you are corrupted somewhere.
Where did you get the download of FireFox?
Makes a BIG difference, as some of the allegedly "free" download sites are only "free" because they load you up with advertising software.
You don't know how to search for it and kill it?
Granted, MS8 and newer makes it much, much harder to find and root out that garbage, on purpose, it seems.

I think one of the worst is Brothersoft for malware attachments.
Until you re-load FireFox and get some screen shots, no way of knowing what you have downloaded.
Did you try it right from the Mozilla website?
