Cheap place for tools, sjdiscounttools.

Just thought I would pass along. I ran across a website https://www.sjdiscounttools.com/ . Very cheap (cost) tools. I ordered some plastic polish from them and also a couple of large taps. The taps were $20-30 at any other place, but they were $6-7 with SJ. I checked Harbor freight, Mcmaster, etc. all were way more expensive.

Interesting.

A few weeks ago I got a 3/8"x16 bottoming tap from NAPA for under $10. Surprised me.

I need to buy a angle die grinder. I am not familiar with the Astro or Mountain brands. Anybody have any experience. The one I have, very cheap, needs to be in the garbage.

I've never seen those before either, but from the appearance of the tools in the ad they look to be identical except for the color of the plastic parts as those sold by places such as HF. I have some HF tools and usually they are fine for the hobbiest, but the low cost usually is achieved by using bushings instead of bearings etc. and they won't hold up well to prolonged use. I just read the fine print in the descriptions and also might well ask about bearing types if it's not shown. Really makes a difference on high speed air tools such as a die grinder. Another area they scrimp on is the quality and strength of the drive gears in the case of an angle grinder. If there is a waranty then keep your reciepts and use it, usually they'll give you another to replace yours if you have problems.

Not sure if you are after pneumatic or electric, but I started off with a cheapo grinder that lived for 1 month. Purchased a Dewalt 4.5, $60, https://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stor...uctId=100618938

I am on my 2nd set of brushes and 3.5 years later I am still beating it up on a daily basis, very good grinder. Regardless of electirc or pneumatic, this is one area I would spend good money if you plan on using it very much.
