Charging Positive ground car.

The battery in my Daimler has run down (and its very cold out). I have a portable battery charger, but have never used it on my Daimler which has a positive ground. The charger has a "quick start" mode that is supposed to provide sufficient amps to crank and start the car in place. But do I hook it up Pos-to-Pos and Neg-to-Neg like I would on any other car, or do I need to recerse the hookup due to it being Pos Ground car?

a battery is a battery... hook the charger up like you would any other battery. Red on +, black on -. But if you're still unsure... Maybe someone will come verify it.

Match the polarity of the battery with the charger.(pos to pos- neg to neg) the rest dosen't matter.

That's what I thought, but having never dealt with charging a Pos Ground car I thought it best to ask.

Bas - you might want to disconnect that battery afterwards until you can figure out why its losing charge.
 
Good point Tony. Although age and inactivity can cause the battery to run down as well.
But if you've been using the car lately, then definatly check for a draw, and that the charging system is working.
 
Define cold in New Mexico. We have been in the mid teens at night and my baby starts well with a 5 year old battery. What amp battery are you using and how old is it?
 
Update. I changed the fuel filter and it started! (But it had warmed up some too).
 
Wow. I diden't know Daimlers had Fuel filters in the battery cables. Positive ground ones no less. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
