Changing power curve

A few years ago, I rebuilt the engine of my '78.
Among other upgrades, I installed a high speed street cam, flat top pistons, shaved the head and put twin HIF4's.

Right now, the power curve kicks in at about 3500 RPM.
Is there any simple way to shift the curve so it kicks lower?

Thanks

Mike

Change the cam?

changing the cam will certainly do the job. However, futzing with carbs and ignition might make it come on a little lower, or come on a little better at the low end. Also, if you have an exhaust header, put 4-2-1 on it instead of a 4-1. That will definitely help, but none of these changes will be drastic.

Do you still run the stock distributor with an ignition curve designed for low compression and the lower demands of a stock cam? Recurving your distributor to get the advance in sooner will be required to get the most out of a higher compression engine.
How high are your cylinder pressures? Do a compression check and report the numbers as well as your cam spec and any changes you have made to the carbs?
