changing ignition light bayonette

BT7 changed to neg ground. Want to change the ignition light with another light fixture to fit in back of tach better. There are two wires going to present light; one orange/white and second is white. When installing new one which would be the ground (-) connection. See that the orange/white goes to voltage reg and the white to the ignition switch from wire diagram. Having a senior moment here.
 
Neither go to ground. The bulb lights on difference voltage between battery and generator output. Goes out when they're equalish.
Your present wiring is probably correct. It doesn't matter which connects to pos or neg.
 
Thanks Roger, from looking at the wiring diagram was confused as one goes to volt reg and other to ignition switch.
