OK, getting ready to have the head on the 73' TR6 shaved .095 of an inch. This should put me at a 9:1 compression ratio. It does not matter what car you have, but what is your experience with a 9:1 or better compression ratio running a California or similar blend? Right now, Calif. is using 10% ethanol, the Feds are talking about going to 15%.

I would hate to have a car I cannot drive, but still want one that will sound and run great. It will drive the UCSC students here crazy.

I run a head on my 71 that has 125 off of it,I calculated it at 9.1/1 I think you will still be under 9 and could easily use 87 octane,if you are properly tuned for it.

Ethanol will raise the octane number, but you may need to richen your fuel.
If your car ran on pure alcohol, you require a much higher volume ratio, So instead of 13:1 fuel ratio, with pure alcohol you may require 8:1. So, with 10-15% alcohol, you may need to richen your mixture a little. Alcohol has a high octane (think top fuel and indy cars-100% alcohol mixture). If you can buy 91 or 92 R+M/2 fuel, you should not have any problems. We can get 94 Chevron up here (Canada).
