Both halves of the rear main seal bolt on. Upper to the block; lower to the main cap. I'm puzzled what's left to "center."

Are the bolt holes in the upper and lower seal halves designed with play to allow shifting and maneuvering? Is that the answer?

I have the correct centering tool if you want to borrow it. Don't know what part of AZ you are in. I'm in the SE valley.

Thanks Keith. Apparently there's one in the kit I'm buying, and we can all imagine how many rear main seals I'll be doing over the next few decades. Hey, SE valley means Mesa out toward Apache Junction? Or more like Gilbert? Interesting how many of us are out here in the desert.
