CD Player for B

I have a 1972 MGB and would like to put in some current speakers and a CD Player. I know, I know it is not original but the rest of the car is. Even though I like listening to the engine while I am tooling down the road there are times I would like to hear some tunes.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go to find a system that would not require any changes to the original radio housing? Also, a good location for the speakers?

Hello i installed a Clarion cd player into my 1970 B. I got the cd player from Crutchfield. The size of my cd player was a DIN-E size, all i had to do was to file a little bit of the plastic out of the corners and the edges to get it to fit. You want to mesure the depth to make sure you have enough clearence behind the stereo, mine is tight and it sticks out a bit in the front, not much ,you can hardly notice it unless you look real close at it.

I have a '72 and I put a Kenwood KDC-4009 in mine and didn't have to do any cutting. There is maybe 3/16 space all around the face and it sticks out maybe 1/2". There was a cassette deck installed by the previous owner in there so I don't know if he had to do any cutting.

I used a pioneer DEH-P470MP, cause it was all set to take my iPod adapter. My understanding is that almost any single-din stereo should fit just fine. As for speakers, I put four inch speakers (I really didn't want to cut into the car or panels)into the plastic under-dash panels I installed, then I put surface speakers (Pioneer TS-X200) on that rear shelf, which I connected with bullet connectors so they an be easily removed if I need the storage space,..the sound is really good.

I have shelve speakers on my rear deck with velcro on the bottom to stop them from sliding around. I want to add speakers into the doors too, but "oh so little time"

I just picked up from Wally-World this little MP3 player that broadcasts over the FM. The sound quality is suprisingly good, and I get to use the radio already in the car.

Plus it works as a walkman kind of thing.

The whole rig was about $39 USD.
