CD Manual

I recently purchased a 1975 Jaguar XJ Series II with 1968 Chev 350 V-8. Restored with all new leather and paint. However, a few things don't work such as power door locks and power antenna. Has anyone had experience in using the workshop manual on CD ROM that is available from Jaguar Cars, UK? It is considerably less expensive than the hard copy manual, and I do not need the engine info. Are there sources to buy the CD in the US? Wow, the Jag is a lot more complicated for the home mechanic than my 67 MGB GT or my 52 MG TD. Thanks so much for your help.

Haynes offers a shop manual for the XJ6 that covers the series 2 model. The information contained in it will be as complete as the CD and should respond to your requirement. The cost should be less. you will probably have trouble finding spare parts for the power door locks should you require them.

I like the cd manual for the Series III from Jaguar Heritage. I also own a 1975 XJ and would assume that the Series II Workshop Manual and Parts List, JHM1120, is a must have. I haven't yet ordered a copy, but here is a link to a list of the available factory CD-roms. Jack already mentioned the Haynes, and I also recommend picking up a copy... mine has come in very handy. Good luck with your new Jaguar and keep me posted on your work.

Don,

Here is a note I made to myself a few months back....

"Ingel Imports (need to order part #JHM1120, service and parts manual)
1-800-253-4080"

It is much simpler to call Ingel and order the CD-rom by phone. They also have a good supply of NOS Jaguar parts and are very helpful. I think the price of the CD is around $40 and you won't have to mail your order form {and possibly your first-born child) to the Motherland. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I had completely forgotten this until I posted the above. As far as your parts needs, ebay is great. I have a list of other sources if you need them, some are wrecking yards in California. Just let me know and I'll gather them together for you.

Brian
