Caution - Tranny Dust Cover - Vicky Brit

Ordered part number 14-761 from Victoria British which is a dust cover for my 74 tranny. It has a metal stiffener in it which stayed attached for 1 month. Then it parted from the cover and must have layed about in the bell housing until it and met up with my pressure plate at 3000 RPM.

'Twas a short, noisy conforntation that ended in it getting wadded up in a ball and thankfully not taking out the clutch or blasting through the tranny casing or taking out the oil pump cover on the back plate.

What i learned : remove this stiffening plate from the cover and throw it away. Look for better quality replacement parts!

Should not have a stiffing plate, should be all rubber.

look at the year, Jack, It might be since this is not a Spridget tranny but one of those "dark side" units!!

Oh, yep our smooth case and rib case trannys have no metal in the dust covers.

No, he got it from VB must be Austin stuff. No metal.

thanks for the heads up I just replaced mine and it was a pain to install with that metal plate in it, i'm going to go rip it out now.
