Hmmm...I might be wrong ... though I seem to remember looking real hard and with relief noting that at the time of impact it was not actually an E-type in the frame ...possibly wishful thinking... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif

That's one thing I always admired about that old Elvis movie where he was a racer, Viva Las Vegas I think it was, at least they had the decency not to destroy the "nicer" cars - the substitutes in the crash scenes were very obviously not the cars he was racing in the action scenes, though in hind sight those cars were also "wasted". If I recall correctly, the XKE he runs off the road into a pond winds up being a Spitfire half submerged etc.

You might be thinking of when the Lamborghini Muira impacts into the Caterpillar front end loader during the opening scene. I might have to pop the DVD in and take a close look. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Well, I personally hate it when any beautiful car is destroyed in a movie - now, destroying Gremlins is another thing altogether...hehehehe

Just watched the opening of the original 'Italian Job' as I was warming up and drinking some hot coffee after shoveling. They don't show the impact, its a sound effect, of a red Miura hitting a yellow caterpillar bulldozer parked in a tunnel. When the Mafioso back the dozer out of the tunnel bringing the Miura with it, it is clearly a Miura, though when they throw it over the side it comes apart and its easy to see that here was no engine or transaxle in the car. Possibly used a factory crash mule car since they don't actually show the impact? Later when they work over those fine British automobiles, they use the before mentioned orange caterpillar front end loader, not a bulldozer.

Don't actually remember any American Muscle cars in that movie.

I saw the movie last nnight,

I thought it was a "digital crash" , it just seemed too clean
