Carriage from the UK

I just ordered some parts for a British marine transmission on 11/29/2017 from ASAP Supplies in Suffolk England and I found them on my doorstep today, 12/1/2017 at 11 AM. The carriage fee for the package was a reasonable $27.84 (US Dollars) for the small box. I'd say the company name is appropriate. I mention this because I've never gotten that kind of service from the big three or however many there are now in the US. While I can't say I've gotten anything quite that fast from the British Car people in the UK, I've been generally very pleased with what I have gotten.
With the favorable exchange rate added, I will be ordering more from the UK.

If it was delivered by DHL, don't be surprised to find another bill in your mailbox in a couple of weeks for no reason that you can fathom

We routinely send packages (gifts) to the UK, and it nearly always costs us a lot more than $27! When they got rid of "small packet air" things really jumped up.

Interesting although I have no idea who the shipper was. Good luck to them trying to catch me though. I will be heading to the Bahamas next week and I have my mail forwarded once a month after that. It takes at least another month to get there (talk about slow delivery) and another month for the Bahama postmistress to tell me I have mail.
Thanks for the heads up, though. I'll report when and if I get a bill.

Looking to bring a Spyder space-frame for each of my Elans here to the U.S. and found shipping to be almost equal to the price of one of the frames. A real buzzkill!

Tom, please tell me you have a British Seagull outboard for your dingy. It's appropriate.

The Bahamas is a great place but can be frustrating if you are trying to work there. Everything has to be imported and takes weeks to get it. Had 14 weeks in Nassau staying at Sandy Port.

I routinely order my Mini parts from suppliers in the U.K. As you have found, I frequently get the parts in 1/2 the time it would normally take to get them shipped from California to the east coast. The parts are typically less expensive but there is normally some minimum shipping charge for international orders. Therefor, purchasing overseas may not be justified until the total value of your order reaches some arbitrary value.

The comments about about secondary charges are correct but depend in large part on the value of your order and who the carrier was. Some (but not all) carriers will charge an additional fee for acting as your freight forwarder to get the items through customs.
