To put snaps on new carpet that has pad attached: The carpet portion of the snap cannot grab the carpet and pad as one. Do I put risers under the floor snap equal to the thickness of the pad and cut a hole in the pad only? , then the snap would accommodate the carpet only. It is a loop pile. Thanks, Le T.

Since the car would have originally had only rubber floormats on the floor (no carpet) I suppose it is a case of 'whatever works'

Personally, I just laid the pad and carpet on the floor - it isn't going to go anywhere. Makes it easy to pull it out for drying when it gets wet.

I also slotted the underseat carpet so I don't have to undo the tracks to remove it.

I snapped the pad to the floor and then glued the carpet to the padding. That way the snaps don’t show on my light colored carpet and it all in snaps as one piece.

I cut a hole in the pad to expose the male snap screwed to the floor and tunnel. I did not notice any bulge in the carpet around the snaps

I also cut a one inch hole in the pad and the snaps worked out just fine and you don't notice any difference in how the carpet looks once snaped
